The Record Exchange is owned and run by Richard Van Hart, who first started a second-hand music store in Queen Street, Auckland in the early seventies. He opened his first Australian store in 1980 in Surfer’s Paradise and that has evolved into the biggest second-hand music store in the country, which is now situated on Adelaide Street, Brisbane.

The Record Exchange was nominated for the Small Business of the Year Award in 2006. We have a vast range of music and music-related goods and we retain the close and helpful customer service which makes shopping with us so rewarding. You can visit or phone us and you will be able to talk directly to Richard himself if necessary. Our helpful staff will always endeavour to go that extra mile to provide the best service for you; if we cannot provide you with what you’re looking for, we will use our extensive domestic and international contacts to provide a suitable solution.

Monday to Thursday: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Friday: 9:30 AM - 9:00 PM
Saturday: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
